Wyssachen Summercamp 3.8.2018

We woke up this morning with the sun shining through the skylight in our yurts. We heard cowbells, buzzing bees, and the cock crowing. As we readied our gear we were greeted with already made sandwiches and muffins to pack in our pack. Then, we set off and began our trek up. After three hours of climbing and taking in the heat from the blazing sun, we found ourselves at the top of the mountain. We took in the view and all reached sublimity! Here we found a nice restaurant with the first working bathroom we have seen for a while. We looked in the bathroom mirrors and saw that our sunscreen had not been sufficient and we all had red shoulders and peeling noses. Not good! We took our break here and ate our lunches and bought ice cream treats to escape the heat. We played dodelido and laughed among the mountains as we rested before our last hike to the Cookie Factory. Here everyone had wide eyes as they ran into the store and began trying different cookies and biscuits. Chocolate and vanilla galore for an hour! Then it was time to catch our trains so we can finally shower after our two nights abroad. On the train, we had many discussions of who would shower first- after a long debate the boys came out victorious and got to shower right as we got home. After the girls showered, we sat outside for an amazing pasta dinner with bacon and applesauce- everyone went back for seconds! Now after two busy and late nights, the leaders have decided to allow us to have the night off. So tonight we will play cards, go to sleep early, wash our dirty clothes, and just relax. We also have a birthday tonight! Happy Birthday Emilie! We will celebrate with chocolate cake for dessert and then head off to bed! It has been another great night here in Wyssachen and we are looking forward to the rest of the week! Talk to you more tomorrow!

Wyssachen Summercamp 1.8.

Blog, 1. August

Today the camp leaders gave us three options to choose from, weh ad the choice to pick either Cycling leading towards a rope park, doing a small hike which ends in visiting a traditional cheese factory or just doing ordinary ball sports.

The cycling group had the task to cover 23 miles from the camp house to the trainstation, this trip was very exhausthing but it was worth it because it had amazing views over Emmental. Once we got to the train station we took a one hour and a half train ride then a twenty minute ride to  the rope park. In the rope park we kind of climbed around the trees. The difficulty depends on wich colour the “walk” had, yellow was the easiest one and the black was the most difficult. The “walks” were high up in the trees and could sometimes be  really scary. For example, in the blue walk, you could jump a “free fall” down from one of the trees. But we all had a lots of fun and had a great day.

Today the ball sports group walked 30 minutes to a very nice field where we played multiple sports such as: football, dodge ball and beach volleyball. Football was my favorite because everyone played which made it competitive and fun. Volleyball was also very fun because it was a competitive game but everyone couldn’t play at once. After that we went to the pool which took 30 minutes to get to. The pool was nice and fun especially in the hot sun, we then took a car back to the camp.

The bike group got back to the house at 6 PM and most of the campers that started the way back on bike had to be picked up by the van on their way back to the house.

Wyssachen Summercamp 31.7.

31. August 2018
Our Day started off at 8.30 am with a nutritional breakfast of carbs and chocolate. We then headed off to Bern for the day even though it was forecasted to be 35 degrees Celsius. The first half of the trip was splitting into forceful groups of four and doing a destination scavenger hunt throughout the beautiful city. We ran all over the city from the train station to the Baerengraben. After, the entire ASO group met up by the pool and there was the choice of swimming or exploring the city for a few hours. There was delicious ice cream, refreshing water, and warm weather. We headed back to the house after an eventful day to have a beautiful dinner outside which included barbeque, pasta salad, and caprese. Tonight there is a choice to go to the sports centre or to play a game at the house. TOdaY wAs veRy LonG, bUt veRy fuN.

Blog 30.07.2018

This scorching morning we walked to the local soccer field of Wyssachen. There we played football, and ultimate ball/frisbee. We then devoured our delicious sandwiches prepared during breakfast, and enjoyed some free time with our pals. Whilst training for frisbee a very kind farmer approached us to offer a bathroom, drinking water, and rivella in his house nearby.
At the same time the other group walked up to a small picturesque forest. During their walk they collected some sticks. The sticks were later used as golf clubs on the self made mini golf course. The lunch was enjoyed after a few entertaining games (i.e. the bag game).
Popoldan so nas peljali v bazen. Smo bili tam dve uri. Voda od bazen je bila zelo mrzla. Kašne osebe so igrali odbojko in kašne so plavali in skakali v bazen. Po dve uri so nas peljali v domu.
Ensuite nous sommes rentrés à la maison, afin de profiter d’une bonne douche chaude;

Wyssachen Summercamp 29.7.

Saturday 28.7. & Sunday 29.7.

Arrival and the first day

After a 50-minute walk to Wyssachen, we arrived at our house. There are 45 people so the 4 bedrooms were pretty packed. The house is different because there is a slide from the third floor! The surroundings are relaxing and there is a little river running next to our soccer field, which distracts us from the game because the ball always floats away. In the morning we played some team building games and we played a weird volleyball game with tarps. We had an interesting combination of food for lunch – a combination of cheese and pineapple toast with mustard. The pineapple-mustard-ham-toast with cheese even followed us to our next activity. We did a fox trail to get to know our village a little bit better. Being devastated with not finding the concert hall, we ate an ice cream at a small restaurant. We walked home to shower and clean up for evening activities. Then we played a lot of board games in different groups to get to know each other further.
