winter camp davos 39.3. - 5.4.2014

Day one beckoned us with clear blue skies and sunshine! Getting to know you escalated into a night out at that turned into an early morning (for some). Note the entry code for the accommodation is important if you decide to stay longer than the leaders...with the promise of great conditions almost everyone made it to breakfast and up to Rinerhorn for the season finale/”Uussufätä”. Icy conditions and fast runs softened as the day warmed up and the Aprés ski music filled the slopes. We probably should have worn sunscreen.

Day 2 in Davos: I definitely have a “ski mask face” but it worth it, I’m much impressed about having such good snow in April while the sun is on his top! It was an awesome ski day, with a lot of jumps, fast driving and even funny falls. The last part of the ski road to Davos was a little bit sporty but we were rewarded with nice drinks at the arrival, Switzerland is just so cool!

Day 3 in Davos (April fools): It was a really sunny and exciting day on the slopes which made us very tired but after a really delicious lasagne we managed to be fit for 2 hours of ice hockey. For a lot of people it was the first time ice skating so it was very interesting when we started to play a game of ice hockey. We had good laughs when many people fell and had collisions but when it was time to score people were very competitive which made the game fun. As a reward of a long day we went out for some drinks, had some dance lessons, played some fussball and had some good laughs among the ASO participants and leaders. Every one managed to get up and make it to the slopes on another beautiful sunny day. We separated into different groups: high speed, freestyle and easy going riding. At midday we all met up and had lunch all together and played a great game of nagelspiel. It was a fantastic day with great snowboarders and skiers.

Day 4: Another beautiful day, this time on the Jakobshorn. Because the slopes were a bit icy in the morning, we wanted to have a coffee first and were a bit surprised when we were told they only served Coffees with alcohol at this bar  what can you do…Instead of sandwiches the kitchen crew brought us delicious Aelplermacaronen to the slopes. After a few more rides in the afternoon we went back up to the Jazzhütte for some Apres skiing, jacuzzy time and sunbathing.
After dinner it was time for some relaxation. We all went to the Eau-là-là bath, where we enjoyed different saunas, ice and hot pools and got our sore muscles to losen up a bit.

Day 5
Today was the first day the weather disappointed us slightly. It was overcast and the visibility wasn’t too good, but we still did a few new slopes befor we went into a loooong lunchbreak with a lot of “Nail-game”(if you lost, you had to either dance on the treetrunk or have some quality time with the wooden mountaingoat  )
After dinner, we got a proper introduction into figure skating befor going out for a wild night of “Bravo-hits” at the Bolgenschanze.
