New Year's Camp Lantsch, 30.12.2011

Today it snowed again. We were late for the bus and we legged it but made it on time...
We heard dynamite being set off to trigger avalanches for safety.
When we got to the slopes, half of them were closed because of the weather. It had snowed all night long and most of it stayed powdery which was a real safety risk for everyone!
We couldn’t see anything. We could only see about 5 meters ahead of us! The snow was slashing at our faces so we decided to spend a good hour in the restaurant with a cup of hot chocolate.

New Year's Camp Lantsch, 29.12.2011

Today was our third day at Swiss Winter Camp. (Our second skiing/snowboarding day)
When we woke up this morning, we were greeted with snow.
There was a blizzard when we finally got to the top of the slope. The wind was so strong that it pushed us all the wrong way! We were freezing when we reached the top...
The slopes were covered in lovely powdery snow, but we could barely see through our goggles, so we kept on crashing into each other. By the time it stopped snowing, the wind was so strong that it whipped all this lovely powdery snow into our faces.
When it was sunny, we decided to go up the slope using the T-bar. We were almost there when it stopped. We thought that someone must have fallen off at the bottom but as time went by we thought someone must have broken their leg! About 10 minutes later a worker on a snowmobile came by to tell us that the lift broke down, so we got off and had the whole slope to ourselves.
At the end of the day, as usual, we got the bus home. We made it to the station and got the other bus. But the driver wouldn’t shut up and drive!!! There was also a fair amount of people who missed the bus altogether and decided, instead of waiting an hour, to walk home...
For dinner we had rainbow risotto and disgusting tea. It was lovely. Our evening project: going on a torch trek; playing soccer; build an ice lounge or organise the New Year’s Eve party. We buried Jasmin in the snow because we got bored of building blocks of snow...

New Year's Camp Lantsch, 28.12.2011

Today was our first day on the slopes. We travelled by bus and then we walked to the top of the hill. There we forced to do a warm up before going on the chairlifts. There we split up into our ability groups, and tried out the slopes of Lantsch. We tried various new slopes and they all had an amazing view of the surrounding villages and the landscape.
