New Year's Camp Valbella 2.1.17

Monday, 2. January 2017

Today, we had a fairly normal day. We woke up at 8am for breakfast and then went skiing and snowboarding. The weather was fine, but the slopes were icy and there was not much sun. Some people were hurt today, but hopefully they will all feel better tomorrow. It’s supposed to snow tonight, so we’ll be snowboarding and skiing on real snow tomorrow for the first time. Tonight, we had Thai food and now we will get into different activities. Some people are playing football and do gymnastics at the sports center, others are staying at home and baking cookies, waxing their skis and snowboards, and learning to play the traditional Swiss card game Jass. We are very excited for the program and will write more tomorrow, as we have to hurry now to catch our bus!

New Year's Camp Valbella 31.12. & 1.1

31.12.16 & 1.1.17

The 31 of December was a special day. The weather was perfect, as if the Gods of the sky knew that it was the end of 2016. The participants enjoyed the whole morning on the slopes. Occasionally falling down on their faces, but they managed to get back up on their feet. After a few hours of intense skiing and snowboarding, the participants were ready to have lunch. They sat on the edge of a big mountain, while enjoying their self-made tasteful lunch. Some unfortunately forgot to bring a spoon. It was a real treat watching them eat their lunch. When they got back from the slopes, they got some time to relax. For dinner they had Fondue, which was served by the kitchen crews, they made it a 5 star dining experience. The participants then got ready for the New Year’s Party. It was an awesome night, let me tell you. The whole dining room was converted into a dance floor. Wow! It was a huge transformation, it was like a real night club, with an amazing lighting system and some beer. Everyone had an amazing time, people were dancing, socializing, and drinking when they weren’t suppose to ;)  At midnight we all went outside and had some Glöggwein while watching the fireworks. Wow! That was an awesome sight. The sky was filled with lights. Everyone had a good time and was wishing each other happy new year. It was mindblowing! :O (with a few exceptions)

The participants got up very late after a heavy night partying. They had Brunch together as a family. It was beautiful. Later, they all the possibility to choose what they wanted to do for the day. Some went ice-skating and others went swimming in a nicely heated Worldpool, that felt amazing. There was even a slide for the participants to use. Boy on boy, they went on that slide as if it was just for them, not even letting the little kids get on it. The ice-skating place was awesome as well. The participants enjoyed skating together, although most of the time they were just sitting on the side and watching other people skating (lol). Some of the participants didn’t even know about Rivella, it was a real treat watching them try the Swiss National Soft Drink (it’s healthy). Later they all met back at the Hostel and had a mouthwatering typical swiss dinner. Then they decided to watch a movie together or spend some time playing board games together. It was a nice peaceful evening, and a good start to 2017.

New Year's Camp Valbella 30.12.16

30.12.16

30 December was another day filled with bruises, blisters, chapped smiles and amazing weather. After three hours on the slopes we returned home, ate and got ready for either ice skating, swimming, hiking or more skiing/snowboarding. Many people fell at the ice rink besides the few professional skaters. The hiking was fun and we got to walk over a frozen lake. Although it was rather slippery no one got hurt. The swimmers got to enjoy a nice pool with a wellness area and it was very relaxing. We ended the day with some delicious “Ghackets mit Hörnli” and will now do our planning for New Years Eve.
